Have Hope

I'd like to share my favorite petition update I've written to date. It's about having hope. I think this policy can apply to many things, but especially our situation regarding Booksellers:

"Woohoo! We’ve reached 2,500 signatures and still counting. This is an incredible testament to the constant stream of love being shown towards Booksellers from the local community. Shout out to Beatrice Hill of Memphis for her “Letter to the Editor” in today’s Commercial Appeal. This petition has become one of the top five highest signature-getting petitions started in Memphis and it is all thanks to you. Also, thank you Action News 5 for featuring the petition on the 6 o’clock news tonight! Jerry Seinfeld once said “a bookstore is one of the many pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking.” So, without a bookstore, what does that say about our local community? Right now, we believe there is still hope. Way #4: Have Hope Why hope? Well, that’s about the only thing we can have right now. If we choose to disregard hope, then we are choosing to disregard a chance to save Booksellers. And that’s probably why you signed this petition right...? to have a chance at saving Booksellers. Well, the media attention we’ve been getting is sure to be attracting potential investors and eventually (hopefully) some serious investors. It may take time for someone to become seriously invested in the store, but nevertheless, we will not be giving up the fight. Just as you have pledged your support to help Booksellers remain part of our community, I have pledged my support to helping Booksellers in any way possible. Having hope is a powerful force that can rarely be stopped. Hope has won wars, saved lives, started nation-sweeping movements, kept relationships intact, lifted spirits in times of critical need, and much, much, more. With hope, we too can win this movement to keep Booksellers open. As I’ve said many times before, don’t forget to share the petition. It honestly does keep the momentum going, especially considering we are still making the news nine days after the initial announcement."
