Icebreaking News-Repost

This is a repost of a previous post that I put up on the petition website that I think is very apt for a day like today:
"If there’s one thing you must know about me, it’s that I love metaphors, and the snow that has dusted the Memphis area has provided the perfect metaphor for how bookstores function within a community.
Imagine the delicate white snow as a bookstore within a local community, as in our case that’s Booksellers. The snow is beautiful to look at and it brings people outside to gaze at its pure wonder. Now for the snow to even fall and actually stick to the ground, it takes the perfect weather conditions. These conditions consist of dry, stable ground (the local community) and just the right amount of precipitation (a group of avid readers) sweeping across any given area. With these conditions in place, the snow has likely chance of blanketing a region and sticking to the ground.
Unfortunately, sometimes the untouched snow is driven over by cars (online book-selling competitors) and quickly melts. This, however, is not a rare occurrence. Everywhere, cars are driving over freshly fallen snow. Following me so far?
Every once in a while, the snow is given a second chance: ice. With the right temperature (a movement like this petition), the melted snow can freeze over and create ice that’s solid, tough, and potentially dangerous to cars if they’re not careful.
That’s where we are with this movement we have started together. We’ve created the perfect cold temperature that Booksellers needs to freeze over and come back as a stronger business. But we’re not through yet. We still have work to do to make this ice impenetrable enough where no car will ever want to even go near it.
I’m happy tonight to be able to inform you that investors are noticing our petition and they are getting in touch with Booksellers; however, I cannot confirm anything for certain and I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up just yet, but the mere fact that potential investors are noticing that there is a market to keep Booksellers open is incredible.
We’ve more than doubled the number of signatures on this petition and we also just reached 1,000 signatures! I’d also like to give a quick shout out to Burke’s Book Store for showing their support by sharing this petition with their customers and discussing the importance of local bookstores."
